Located 6 miles south of Grand Haven on US-31, the Grand Haven Campground is a private park. It used to be a "Jellystone Park" but changed identity several years ago.

Unfortunately, there really is not a lot to see or do here, and coupled with the high rates (up to $60 per night), there is really no reason to camp here given the excellent state parks in the area. I would use this park only when the state parks are full. Otherwise, it is too expensive.

The park is easily accessed as it is right off US-31. But that is also a negative, as the park gets a lot of noise from the highway and adjacent railroad tracks.

Given the high expense of the park, and that many sites have patios, about half of the sites are not level, and especially if you have a smaller Class C motorhome without levelers, you may find you cannot get your rig level. I had to change sites, not only due to the first site not being level, but the power pedestal was 40ft from my coach, and I did not have sufficient power cord.

The park has a couple of nice pools, as well as other activities. There is both an adult and kid pool, but neither are heated - so it may have to be in early July before the pool can be comfortable.

The kid's pool is very shallow, perhaps 1 ft deep. Unfortunately, the kids were all in the adult pool the day we visited.

There are a few other amenities, such as a train/trolly that will take your children for a trip around the park, and a game room with video games. Unfortunately, these are all added costs.

About half of the park is seasonal, which much more favorable rates. I think this is their main income source. Many lots also have fire pits, but in our case, the neighbor's fire pit was just too close to our coach - not more than 10ft away. At least our neighbors had the good sense not to use their fire pit when we were there.

The restrooms were adequate, and they will come by once a day to pick up the trash. You can get cheaper sites without patio and full hookup, so you don't have to spend $60. But if you get one of the cheapest sites, you may be asked to pay for using the pool.

When we were there, we did lose almost all water pressure for awhile. Not sure if this was due to maintenance or some other issue.

WiFi is available but costs extra - around $5 per day. Given this is a pricey campground for what it offers to begin with, charging for WiFi is pretty much gouging the guests.
