Those Zero Gravity chairs are the best... unfortunately, they are also expensive. While they are nice to take camping, you don't want to damage them. In this project, I will be making a bag for the chairs out of Sunbrella. Normally this would be too expensive of a material to use for such a project (a $100 bag to protect a $100 chair), however, we had some Sunbrella left over from our boat projects which I used, so there was no upfront cost for this project.

The bag uses very simple construction... it's just two pieces of fabric sewn together "sleeping bag" style, with velcro across the top to enclose it. The hems in the inside are doubled over and zig-zag sewed to ensure strong sides. Unfortunately, when I did that extra step, the bag became a bit tight... but not so tight as we can't get the chair in and out of the bag. I might need to add a zipper along the side if the bag shrinks any.

To make the project, we used our Sailrite LSZ-1 sewing machine, which is a commercial grade machine that probably can sew metal. It went though 4 layers of Sunbrella with no effort at all.

The chairs are actually a lot easier to carry with this bag as we can sling them over our shoulder rather than having to grab on to one of the frame members of the chair and possibly pinching a finger. If you make such bags, you will be the talk of the campground.

• Sunbrella acrylic fabric.
• 2" Velcro.
• 2" white webbing.
• V92 thread.

Yea, the bags are too tight, so I added a heavy duty YKK #20 zipper to one edge... now they fit perfectly.
