The Oscoda Kampground of America (KOA) is located a couple miles south of Oscoda, Mi. GPS navigation systems can be fooled when locating the property, but should be able to get you close enough to find it.

Like most private campgrounds, the KOA features full hookups, pull-thru sites, as well as (analog) cable and WiFi. Since they are a bit more expensive than the typical State Parks in Michigan (not to mention the location), private parks typically have to add a few amenities to get people to stay there.

In all honesty, due to the very nice Michigan State Park system, many people only stay at private campgroiunds such as this when they cannot get into a State Park.

The park has a nice pool, but no hot-tub. The park also offers hay rides and a trip around the park on the resident fire truck on Saturday nights.

One negative of the park is the train tracks adjacent to the park. On weeknights, expect one or two trains to pass by. The tracks are not that good, so at least the trains go by slowly (although the railroad was replacing track when we were there).

There is no beach access here, although you can go into Oscoda and spend a day at the public beach which is quite nice. As well, there is a small Aviation museum in Oscoda - the Wurtsmith Air Museum. Oscoda originally grew as a town adjacent to Wurtsmith AFB, which was an active Air Force Base until the 1990s when it was decommissioned.
