Warren Dunes State Park, Mi
Warren Dunes is 16mi south of Benton Harbor, Mi, and just north-east of the Indiana/Michigan line.
Warren Dunes State Park is located just off I-94, on the busy throughfare between Chicago and Detroit. Due to it's proximity to Chicago (and that there are no good camping areas in that area), this campground is heavily used by out-of-state visitors. The beaches and dunes in this park are outstanding, and well worth the stay. However, due to the heavy use, reservations are pretty much required. The one issue I have is that the big-city visitors bring with them big-city issues, such as partying, rowdyness, and manners. Still, notwithstanding those issues, the park keeps things under control. The Lake Michigan beach area is a day-use beach, and many day visitors can be found here. The distance to the campground is about a mile, so a vehicle or bicycle may be necessary to visit the beach.
There are 185 campsites as well as several mini-cabins available. Reservations are recommended.
