Brimely State Park
Brimely State Park is located just outside of the little town of Brimely, Mi on the shores of Lake Superior's Whitefish Bay, about 20mi from Sault Ste. Marie.
This park is kind of out-of-the-way, and as such, it is not used as much as other state parks in Michigan. Consequently, the sites are nice and grassy. Most sites are also sunny as you are fairly north, and you will want all of the sunshine you can get. Still, it was in the upper 70's when we were there in June. As is many of Michigan's state parks of late, several sites have been converted to 50Amp pull through to accomidate larger rigs (but no water or sewer). There is a nice beach, but being on Lake Superior, the water temperature never gets much higher than 50deg, so you will not see a lot of people swimming here. But the beauty of this area is breathtaking. There is a small grocery store just outside of the park's entrance, and a gas station in the town of Brimely. Otherwise, for anything substantial, you will have to make the 20mile trip into Sault Ste. Marie, which is a large enough town to have about everything you may need. There isn't really a lot to do here other than relaxing. But it can be used as a convenient "base camp" to see attractions in the area. Whether it be Tahquamenon Falls and the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum to the west, or Sault Ste. Marie, the Soo Locks, Vally Camp Museum, Casino, and other attractions to the east, they are all within an hour's drive of Brimely.
